Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using HabitNook — whether as a guest or by creating an account — you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please stop using the app.

2. Guest and Local Use

You may use HabitNook in Guest Mode without creating an account. In Guest Mode, all your data is stored locally on your device and you have access to a 24-hour local trial of premium features. Guest data is not backed up to our servers. Creating an account is required to access Cloud Sync, Friends, Study Circle, SLAM Book, and premium plan purchases.

3. Your Data

Your productivity data (habits, study goals, focus sessions, preferences) is stored locally on your device. When you create an account, basic profile information is stored in our secure database. Cloud Sync is opt-in and backs up your local data to our servers. Your data is yours — we do not sell it. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

4. Free and Premium Plans

HabitNook offers a free plan and a premium plan. Premium features are unlocked after a verified payment through our payment partner. We offer the following premium options:

• Monthly plan — ₹19 (30 days)
• Yearly plan — ₹149 (365 days)
• Founding Member — ₹599 (early supporter access for 10 years)

Plan status from a backup file or local storage is never trusted — only server-verified plan status is used to unlock premium features.

5. Payments and Refunds

Payments are processed securely by Razorpay. By making a purchase, you agree to Razorpay's terms and conditions. We do not store your card details.

All sales are generally final. If you experience a payment failure or are charged without access being granted, please contact us at support@myhabitnook.com and we will resolve the issue promptly.

6. Social Features and User-Generated Content

HabitNook includes social features available to logged-in users:

• Friends: You can connect with other users by their HabitNook ID. Friend connections require mutual acceptance.
• Study Circle: Send preset encouragement messages to your friends. No free-form messages are allowed — only approved templates.
• SLAM Book: Friends can write structured, kind entries in your SLAM Book upon your request. You control which entries appear in your book.

You are responsible for the content you submit through these features. By submitting content, you confirm it does not violate anyone's rights, is not harmful, and complies with these Terms. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms.

7. Safety Design — No Public Chat, No Strangers

HabitNook's social features are intentionally closed. You can only interact with users you have explicitly added as friends using their HabitNook ID. There is no public feed, open chat, or stranger discovery. Study Circle messages use preset templates only — no free-form text chat. This design is intentional to keep the platform safe for all users.

8. Moderation and Reporting

You may report content or users that you believe violate these Terms using the in-app report feature. We review all reports and may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate these Terms. You may block any user to prevent further contact. Blocked users cannot send you friend requests or SLAM Book requests.

9. Account Responsibility

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. HabitNook is intended for personal, non-commercial use. Do not share your account with others. Automated access or scraping of HabitNook is not permitted.

10. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use HabitNook to:

• Harass, bully, threaten, or harm other users.
• Submit false, misleading, or abusive content in SLAM Book or Study Circle.
• Attempt to access another user's account or data without permission.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or automate access to HabitNook.
• Attempt to bypass or manipulate premium plan access.
• Use HabitNook for any unlawful purpose.

Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination at our discretion.

11. Account Deletion and Termination

You may permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deleting your account removes your profile, social connections, and all server-side data permanently.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the platform, or engage in harmful behaviour, with or without prior notice.

12. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

HabitNook is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. The app is a productivity and study companion — it is not a medical, therapeutic, or professional advice tool.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, HabitNook and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to loss of data, lost productivity, or payment disputes.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the version number above when we do. Continued use of HabitNook after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
